The York Conservative led council has completed six new two-bedroomed council homes in Heworth last week as part of its programme to build over 70 much needed affordable new homes in York.
The first tenants are expected to move in later this month into these up-to-date new-builds, which have been constructed both to high energy efficiency levels and to Lifetime Homes standards, which means they can be modified over time to meet the changing needs of the people living there.
These homes are part of a scheme to build over 70 new homes, 55 of which have been completed. A further eight apartments at Fenwick street are also due for completion later this month.
Cllr. Sam Lisle, Executive Member for Housing and Safer Neighbourhoods said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating the completion of these much-needed new council homes, which are built to high construction and energy efficiency standards. These will help those in desperate need of affordable housing in York and we’re looking forward to welcome the first tenants moving in soon.”
