Motorists who pay for car parking in York via their mobile phone should be aware that from Saturday 1st July the service will be provided by a new operator- RingGo- and some drivers may need to download a new app or use a different number to pay for their parking. New location codes are being introduced across the car parks covered by the scheme, and new signage is being erected to make users aware of these.
Pay-by-phone has been running for multiple years in York, with many motorists appreciating the ease of paying for parking with a debit or credit card and a mobile phone. Users of the old service must re-register with RingGo, and the process can be completed by phone or online.
Residents holding a Minster badge will continue to receive a discount at all car parks other than the one at Foss Bank.

Conservative councillor Ian Gillies, Executive Member for Transport and Planning said: “Using your mobile to pay for parking is quick and convenient.
“I urge drivers to register for RingGo and download the new app. We’ve arranged for the changeover to occur on a Saturday to help keep any disruption to a minimum.”
