On Monday 21 May, City of York Council will begin work to relocate the existing bus stop on Strensall Road near Strensall Barracks.
The new bus stop will be nearer the entrance to Strensall Park, giving those waiting a better view of approaching traffic. Improvements also include an extended hard standing area and an associated pedestrian tactile crossing point, further increasing the safety of the stop, especially for children and those with mobility issues.
2-way temporary traffic lights will be set up for safety during the works. Motorists should plan their journey accordingly, but everything possible will be done to minimise any disruption.
Councillor Paul Doughty, Conservative councillor for Strensall Ward said: “The council is committed to front line improvements such as the relocation of the Strensall Road bus stop.
“The wider standing area will really improve the safety of passengers and pedestrians on Strensall Road.”
The relocation is scheduled between 9.15am to 3.30pm daily and is expected to finish on the 25 May.
