We are delighted to inform you that the application for a massive 10m tall steel walled self-storage facility on Water Lane – neighbouring residential properties - was rejected on 09/08/2018 by the City of York Council’s Area Planning Committee.
This is an application which we have fought hard against as your three Ward Councillors, and we are very pleased that the planning committee listened to the incredible strength of feeling from the community about this application.
We raised objections on a number of different planning grounds, highlighting in particular; the loss of residential amenity due to the proposed size and proximity to neighbouring houses, the additional impact on traffic congestion, and the negative impact it would have on the streetscene.
We would like to thank all of the residents who objected to this deeply inappropriate proposal, and in particular pay tribute to the local residents who came down to the meeting of the planning committee to ensure that residents’ voices were heard.
Whilst the applicant might consider appealing the decision, or submitting a new application, this is decision is incredibly good news for our community.
