York Outer MP, Julian Sturdy, spent last Friday experiencing a regular day for York’s Neighbourhood Policing team.
Julian was able to see how day-to-day business is prioritised, attended response calls and discussed policing challenges with frontline officers.
Julian spent the day ‘on the beat’ with officers who responded to a number of calls from members of the public. Julian was also able to see how our local police use technology to assist in identifying potential threats.
Police work is becoming more complex, with organised and cyber-crime in addition to traditional police work like responding to robberies and anti-social behaviour. Julian was therefore keen to see the operations in place which help our local police in their work.
Following the visit, Julian commented:
“It was fascinating to spend the day with York’s Neighbourhood Policing team to gain an insight into the work they do to keep our communities safe.
I regularly meet with our local police leaders, so this was an excellent opportunity to work closely with them again.
I was able to see a well-organised and hugely passionate team of officers, both those out in our communities as well as based at Fulford Police Station.
By spending a day with local police officers, I was able to gain first-hand experience of the challenges they face, which will help me in representing our area in Westminster”.
