Cllr. David Carr visited the York Central Delivery office to see for himself the operation of delivering the Christmas post and to pass on his season’s greetings to its hardworking staff.
Cllr. Carr was shown around the office and was introduced to the Royal Mail employees who are working flat out during their busiest season to deliver mail in the York area over the Christmas season.
Cllr. Carr said: “This tour was a really interesting insight into all the work that goes into sorting our mail all year round, but the efforts needed to keep everything moving during the holiday period is truly phenomenal. I was so impressed by the dedication of these postmen and women and of the behind-the-scenes organisation necessary to make sure that Christmas cards and presents get to everyone on time. It was a pleasure for me to convey the council’s appreciation of all their hard work.
“I’d like to thank them very much for taking the time to show me how they operate, especially in the midst of their absolute ‘crunch time’ and truly enjoyed my visit.”
