Joe Pattinson has been announced as the Conservative Candidate for the Holgate by-election, to be held on 15th February.
Joe is a local man and has lived in York all his life. He currently works in the public sector in an operations department but is also a keen linguist, having studied French and German at university and he also does some work as a translator. Away from work Joe is a regular at York City fan and therefore of course a Jon Parkin fan in particular.
Speaking on being elected Joe said 'I am delighted to have been chosen as the Conservative candidate for the by-election and my aim will be to build on the base we have made of having Conservatives leading the council, with a focus on frontline services and low council tax, whilst protecting the most vulnerable.'
'In Holgate I believe the biggest issue is making a success of the redevelopment of the York Central site, with residents' wishes at the front of what is done. It is vital we continue the plans to relocate the site entrance away from the Holgate Community Garden. That proposed route was supported by all the Holgate Labour councillors when they were in power and would have been a disaster. I am delighted that having engaged with local residents Conservatives leading the council are leading on rerouting it. We also need a sensible mix of housing for local families, as well as businesses that will provide high quality local jobs.'
Joe added 'I look forward to speaking to as many residents as possible'
