No new tax pledged by mayoral candidate Keane Duncan

Keane Duncan has ruled out charging a new tax if he is elected in May.

The York & North Yorkshire Mayor will have power to add to council tax bills by an uncapped amount to fund new responsibilities such as transport and housing.

Cllr Chris Steward, ward councillor for Copmanthorpe, is continuing to work to try and cut lorry numbers coming through the village. This has been a problem since October when City of York Council concerns about Appleton Road Bridge in Bishopthorpe saw a temporary weight restriction imposed.
